Web3 Association

The Web3 Association is a continuation of our efforts to improve treasury systems through the adoption of an improved shared learning approach. Some of the initial suggested priorities are to help with proposal data structures and how proposals are assessed and tracked for progress and completion.

Adoption priorities

The following are some of our suggested changes to how the Catalyst process functions and the adoption of these changes can provide a massive impact in the efficiencies and effectiveness of the funding process.

Catalyst funding categories

• Funding categories offer a path to a more effective way to do funding categorisation that significantly reduces the resources and effort required to manage the categorisation and reduce the issues faced with mixing objective setting with funding categorisation. Read the documentation to get a full understanding of the multitude of benefits for using funding categories.

Catalyst contributors

• Catalyst contributors are a group of full time contributors that support and improve the Catalyst ecosystem. Contributors can be seen as a collaborative glue that bring efforts together to move the ecosystem forward.
• Contributors can become an increasingly accountable group of community members that support running the core Catalyst process.
• This model is a great candidate for an effective path for IOG being able to pass on ownership and authority from parts of the ecosystem over to the community. This solves the stewardship issue we have had with our existing proposals.

Infrastructure contributors

• Infrastructure contributors are a group of full time contributors that support and improve the Cardano ecosystem. This includes improving the development ecosystem and tooling and support around how stake pool nodes are operated. Contributors can be seen as a collaborative glue that bring efforts together to move the ecosystem forward.
